Job application procedure

Our job application process takes about four weeks and consists of several steps, which are clearly described below. Each step has the same objective: to find out if you are a fit for KPMG and if KPMG is a fit for you. Getting to know each other well is important in making a good choice.

Trainees, thesis interns and starters

Step 1. KPMG Talent Pitch

At the beginning of the application process, you will be invited to participate in our KPMG Talent Pitch. In the Talent Pitch, we not only get to know you but also provide you with a better understanding of us. We will give you a tour of the world of KPMG. During the pitch, you will complete a personality questionnaire and a capacity test.

Step 2. The first interview

If you successfully complete the Talent Pitch, we will invite you for a first interview with a recruiter. In most cases, a colleague from the respective department will also be present during the interview. The interview is a mutual introduction, where you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Step 3. Follow-up

If you had a positive first interview and are still enthusiastic, and if we also see a match, a second meeting will be arranged. In this second interview, we will delve deeper into the role and the substantive topics you will be dealing with. You may be asked to prepare a business case for the interview. Sometimes, a final interview may take place as well.

Step 4.Offer

If there is a match, we will extend an offer to you, and hopefully, you will soon start at KPMG. In the offer, you will find not only your salary but also detailed information about our complete package of employment conditions, including your pension, vacation days, and more! If you accept our offer, we congratulate you as a new colleague and move on to the final step.

Step 5. Screening

We strive to be an honest and trustworthy organization in all respects, so we screen everyone who joins us. Validata conducts this screening and checks, among other things, references. If everything is in order, the path to a successful career at KPMG lies ahead of you. You will then start with our comprehensive onboarding program.

Professionals

Step 1. Your application

When you apply, we assess whether there is a match between your CV and the job requirements. In most cases, the next step is an online assessment. This assessment includes a capacity test and a personality questionnaire. The results provide insights into your behavioral preferences and competencies.

Step 2. The first interview

After successfully completing the assessment, we invite you for a first interview with a recruiter and a colleague from the relevant department. During this interview, we primarily want to get to know you, and you also have the opportunity to get to know us.

Step 3. Follow-up

Is everyone enthusiastic? In many cases, a second meeting follows. During the second interview, we delve deeper into the role and the substantive topics you will be dealing with. A business case may be part of the follow-up interview. Sometimes, a final interview may also take place.

Step 4. The offer

If we have a match, we will provide you with an offer to start at KPMG. In the offer, you will find not only your salary but also detailed information about our complete package of employment conditions, including your pension, vacation days, and more! If you say "yes," we congratulate you as a new colleague and move on to the final step.

Step 5. Screening

We strive to be an honest and trustworthy organization in all respects. Therefore, we screen everyone who joins us. Validata conducts this screening and checks, among other things, references. If everything is in order, the path to a successful career at KPMG is open for you. You will then start with our comprehensive onboarding program.

Job application tips

If you have seen an interesting job vacancy and want to be considered, increase your chances of a successful application with the practical tips from our experienced recruiters.

Your cv

Our recruiters review multiple cv's daily. How can you make your cv stand out? Keep it readable, clear, and concise. Use reverse chronological order so that you can immediately see your most recent work experience. Include only relevant information for this position and align it with the job requirements in the vacancy. It's good to showcase a bit of yourself by referring to hobbies, volunteer work, and competencies. Also, make sure we know how to reach you by including your contact details in your CV. Spelling and typographical errors should not be present in your cv.

Your motivation

A motivation letter allows you to distinguish yourself from other candidates. Why do you want to work for our company? Why are you suitable for this job? What value can you bring? This is your chance to tell us! Always address your letter to the right person. Mention as little information from your CV as possible. We recommend keeping the content of your letter organized and professional while adding personal touches. Be original in your motivation, convince us. End on a positive note, which is pleasant for the reader. One last tip: always have someone else check your letter for spelling and style errors.

Online assessment

Our online assessment consists of a capacity test and a personality questionnaire. The capacity test provides insights into your abilities in specific areas, ranging from verbal abstract reasoning to logical-analytical capacities. Prior to the assessment, ask the recruiter about the components of your test. Then, through websites like www.assessment-online.nl or www.intermediair.nl, research the type of questions you can expect. The personality questionnaire provides insights into your behavioral preferences and competencies. Be honest and stay as true to yourself as possible. Base your answers on your behavior in a professional environment, not your personal life.

Preparing for the first interview

You only have one chance to make a first impression, so prepare well for the initial introduction interview. You know your strengths and weaknesses. You understand yourself and can articulate both your positive and negative aspects. KPMG is not an unknown territory for you because you have researched what we do through our website, annual report, trade magazines, and job fairs/business events. You understand the nature of the role. Prepare answers for yourself in advance for the most likely questions. However, keep in mind that a job interview is never a one-way street. Therefore, make a list of questions you want to ask us. Don't forget to confirm the appointment for the interview. Also, know where you need to go and whom you will be speaking with.

Job interviews

At KPMG, we usually have several interviews with our candidates. Of course, be punctual for each interview. We are primarily interested in who you are, so show yourself. Demonstrate passion, enthusiasm, and motivation both verbally and non-verbally. Consider the interview as a good dialogue. Listening and asking questions are essential. At the end, inquire about the further procedure and express your gratitude for the interview. With these tips, your job application process should go smoothly. Good luck!

Tips for an online job interview

Many job interviews take place online, especially the first interview. We understand that a video interview can be even more nerve-wracking than a "normal" interview. Therefore, we have a few additional tips for you for a video conversation.

  • A video application is a real job interview. So choose your clothes with care and prepare well, as you would for an 'offline' job interview.
  • Test your internet connection, your devices and the tool to be used beforehand. This will prevent problems during the start of your interview. Make sure we can see you clearly, know how you will be displayed and make sure your background and surroundings are quiet and uncluttered. Set your phone to silent mode and make sure it cannot distract you. If despite all this there is still a glitch in the connection, make sure you have other options, like your phone.
