Cultural diversity

Your cultural background is a part of who you are, also in your workplace. At KPMG, we believe it is important for everyone to be able to be themselves, and we provide space for getting to know each other's cultures. Our workforce in the Netherlands consists of 83 nationalities, so there is a good chance you will experience the power of cultural diversity in your daily work.

Working towards more cultural diversity at all levels

KPMG is diverse, but let us be honest, this diversity does not yet apply to all levels. Why is that? What can we do to promote cultural diversity within KPMG? How can we ensure that every colleague feels valued, regardless of his or her background? These are questions that our Cultural Diversity Board continuously explores. It is an important matter because every colleague deserves role models at every level within the organization, and we are working hard to achieve that. It may be complex, but it is necessary!

Awareness, connection, and solidarity

One aspect of the Cultural Diversity Board's work is to create awareness, foster connections, and promote solidarity. This is a serious matter, but it is also a lot of fun and inspiring. Diversity is something to celebrate! For example, during International Week, we get to learn about different cultures, taste worldly flavors, and engage in conversations with each other.

Another initiative is the Ramadan Challenge, which sees increased participation from colleagues each year. Everyone is invited to fast for a day during Ramadan and then conclude the day together in a pleasant manner. This gives non-Muslim and other religious colleagues an impression of how their Muslim colleagues experience Ramadan and an opportunity to show their solidarity. It also makes discussions about temporary adjustments to the daily work routine, if necessary, easier.

Language Café

How wonderful is it to have the opportunity to improve your language skills alongside other KPMG colleagues at work? For international colleagues who want to learn (or improve) Dutch, we have the Language Café.

Facilities for colleagues with religious beliefs

Many offices have a designated prayer room for religious colleagues. In other locations, you will find a quiet room that can also be used as a prayer or breastfeeding room. Of course, the breastfeeding room is accessible to all colleagues, regardless of their religious beliefs.

Holidays

Every colleague celebrates different holidays at home. That is why we offer you the opportunity to exchange national public holidays, such as Ascension Day or Whit Monday, for holidays that are important to you, such as Eid al-Fitr/Ramazan Bayramı (Eid al-Fitr), Holi, or Chinese New Year.

Four weeks of remote work per year

Visiting family abroad? That is important, and at KPMG, you can work from abroad for up to four weeks every year.
