We face existential challenges; trust in politics is declining, and inequality is increasing. Not to mention forest fires, floods, and other natural disasters linked to climate change. Solutions to these problems require collaboration and the willingness to do what is right, even as an organization.

Pro bono assignments
We believe that you become an even better professional when you are aware of the broad impact of our services on society and the environment. That's why every colleague is given the opportunity, during working hours, to contribute to a sustainable and fair world through our pro bono program.
Within the pro bono program, we use our skills and expertise to support foundations and social enterprises in achieving their strategic and operational goals. This is where we can make the most impact. As a KPMG employee, you can participate in KPMG-wide projects, but you can also suggest organizations that could benefit from the knowledge and expertise of KPMG.

Environment
Our consultants and accountants are frequently on the move. To reduce our CO2 emissions, we are actively working on implementing a flexible mobility policy. We are reducing barriers to electric driving or cycling and encouraging the use of public transportation. KPMG's environmental management system is ISO 14001 certified, demonstrating our commitment to complying with environmental laws and regulations and continuously striving to make our operations more sustainable.
Net Zero by 2030
The KPMG network has set a goal to achieve net zero by 2030. This target aligns with what the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) deems necessary to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. To achieve net zero, we aim to halve our CO2 emissions by 2030 (compared to 2019 levels). We are pursuing initiatives such as the sustainability of our vehicle fleet, tightening our air travel policies, and making our buildings more environmentally friendly.
Different Travel
In early 2020, KPMG joined the Anders Reizen Coalition. The Coalition's objective is to halve the CO2 emissions from business travel by 2030 (compared to 2016 levels). Currently, 53 Dutch companies have already joined the Coalition. At KPMG, electric driving is the standard. Additionally, we make it easy for our employees to use public transportation and other sustainable travel options.
Education
Unfortunately, not everyone in the Netherlands has equal opportunities to discover and develop their talents. We believe that everyone in the Netherlands should have the chance to explore and unleash their potential. That's why we are committed to creating equal opportunities for all.
We contribute to this goal in several ways: by collaborating with organizations such as JINC, Petje af, and IMC Weekendschool, which focus on creating equal opportunities for children; through our own program for vocational education students and by undertaking pro bono work for nonprofit organizations to better support young people.

The KPMG Jan Hommen Scholarship for vocational education students
Through the Jan Hommen Scholarship, KPMG awards scholarships to vulnerable young individuals with a vocational education background. KPMG sponsors these students for a maximum period of four years with a scholarship worth EUR 2,500 per year. The selection process focuses on their talents, areas for development, and motivation. We challenge these young individuals to rediscover themselves, envision their future, and pursue their dreams. KPMG recognizes the importance of education and training for this group, which includes many vulnerable young people, by helping them realize their potential and explore opportunities to seize their chances. The scholarship aligns with our vision of lifelong learning and utilizing our knowledge and expertise to continuously strengthen society.
